Terms of Use

Effective October 12, 2026

The short version
  • BudgetRat is a budgeting tool, not a financial advisor. Your money decisions are yours.
  • Your weekly number is an estimate based on what you enter, so keep it accurate.
  • Your data is yours. We use it only to run BudgetRat (see our Privacy Policy).
  • Please use BudgetRat fairly, and don't try to break it.

Agreeing to these terms

These terms apply to the BudgetRat apps and website (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use BudgetRat.

Who can use BudgetRat

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to create an account. You're responsible for the information you provide and for keeping your password private. Tell us right away at info@budgetrat.com if you think someone else has accessed your account.

Not financial advice

BudgetRat helps you organize your income, bills, and spending, and suggests ways to build savings and pay down debt. It doesn't provide financial, investment, tax, credit, or legal advice, and it doesn't know your full financial situation. Your weekly number and any suggestions are estimates based only on what you enter. Bills, due dates, and income timing in real life may differ, so check your actual account balances before making financial decisions, and talk to a qualified professional for advice about your situation.

Your information

You own the information you put into BudgetRat. You give us permission to store and process it only as needed to provide and improve the Service, as described in our Privacy Policy.

Using the Service fairly

Please don't:

Price and changes to the Service

BudgetRat is currently free. We may add, change, or remove features over time. If we ever introduce paid features, we'll tell you about the price before you're charged, and you can choose not to use them.

Ending your account

You can stop using BudgetRat at any time and ask us to delete your account. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or put the Service or other users at risk. Where reasonable, we'll let you know first.

Disclaimers

We work hard to keep BudgetRat accurate and available, but the Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. We don't promise that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that its calculations will match your actual account balances.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, BudgetRat isn't liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost money, overdrafts, fees, or missed payments arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $50 if you haven't paid us anything. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as BudgetRat grows. We'll change the date at the top, and for significant changes we'll let you know in the app or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use BudgetRat after that means you accept the updated terms.
